Setting Attainable Goals for 2018!

If you’re anything like us there’s a chance that once you’d cleared up the confetti and champagne glasses on the first of January you were left with a sense of dread knowing that you’d have to watch everyone’s Instagram feeds as the the ‘New Year, New Me’ posts came flooding in - and once they did that sinking feeling only grew!
There’s something sad about January, and setting yourself goals that are nearly impossible to reach won’t help anyone’s egos! You don’t have to be superwoman, you just have to happy being you - as Queen B says: A woman is most beautiful when she smiles! We are aware that women often feel like their ideal weight/aesthetic/fashion sense is unattainable and we’re keen to break those walls down and watch you all shine from the inside out - a way of kicking the habit of knocking yourself down is to change the way you look at your New Year and general goals you set for yourself.
As cheesy as it sounds there was something great about setting S.M.A.R.T goals in school - you know the ones I mean:
As cheesy as it sounds there was something great about setting S.M.A.R.T goals in school - you know the ones I mean:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Attainable
- Relevant
- Timely
Some of us at The Vintage Cosmetic Company HQ still use these goals to plan ahead both in both a business and personal capacity and really find it does work wonders.
Let’s start with ‘S’/Specific: You want your goal to clearly outline what it is you’d like to achieve, so for example instead of saying ‘I want to be a millionaire’ you should be saying ‘I want to make £100 a month for the next five years by creating a new product'. A good way of doing this is asking yourself who, what, where, how and when
Having a Measurable goal is important: So if you decide like so many other people after Christmas that you want to lose weight decide how much this will make your goal clear and you will have a definite aim.

Attainable goals are key: If you can’t physically achieve something because you don’t have the time/money/willpower don’t set it for yourself! It’s great to aim high but keep it within your limitations.
Having Relevant goals is important because: Imagine if you dedicate hours of your time to something realising that actually you only did it because everyone else was, or that someone else talked you into it - if you don’t want to lose weight, have three kids and become Kim Kardashian's alter ego that’s fine! Just remember who you are, what you want and what would make you happy!
Setting a time for your goals to end is crucial: Timely goals get results - otherwise you could be working towards the next step in your career for the next 10 years rather than the next two simply because you haven’t forced yourself to set a time to achieve everything.
This year, try something different and break the curve - set goals that are S.M.A.R.T and which actually make you happy! And if you don’t have any don’t worry, it’s important to take time out and look after yourself so that when you are ready for the next big leap your mind and body are ready too!
If you’re still stuck for a goal and want one, we suggest this for you fabulous ladies: Try loving yourself a little more this 2018.
